Why it matters
Why clean gutters matter
Water goes where it should. A clogged gutter fills up and spills over the edge, right next to the foundation it was put there to protect.
Less weight on the hangers. Wet leaves and standing water are heavy. Over time that weight pulls a run out of pitch and away from the fascia.
A dry roof edge. Water that backs up in a full gutter sits against the fascia and the edge of the roof, where it stains and soaks the wood.
Fewer places for embers to land. In canyon and hillside areas like Topanga, Malibu, Pacific Palisades and Brentwood, dry leaves packed in a gutter can catch wind-blown embers. Clearing them is part of keeping a home defensible.

Timing
How often to clean

Most of LA’s rain falls in a few winter storms, and debris piles up in the gutters through the dry months. Cleaning in the fall, before the rains start, keeps the first big storm from overflowing.
Homes under heavy trees fill up faster and often need cleaning more than once a year.
October and November fill up fast. Book before the first storm.
3-month warranty on cleaning service.
Warning signs
Signs your gutters need cleaning
Look up during the next rain, or walk the house after it. These are the giveaways.
- Water spills over the edge when it rains
- Plants or weeds are growing out of the gutters
- A run sags under the weight of wet debris
- Water stains on the fascia or siding below the gutter
- Downspouts drip or barely drain during a storm

FAQ
Questions about gutter cleaning
How often should gutters be cleaned?
Once a year is the baseline, in the fall before the rains start. Homes under heavy trees fill up faster and often need cleaning more than once a year.
Do you clean the downspouts too?
Yes. Clearing the downspouts is part of every cleaning, so water has somewhere to go once the gutters are empty.
What happens to the debris?
We clean up after every job, so what comes out of the gutters doesn’t stay in your yard.
How will I know the gutters are clean?
We show you before-and-after pictures of the gutters, so you can see the work without climbing a ladder.
What if my gutters turn out to need a repair?
Cleaning sometimes uncovers a sagging run or a leaking seam. If the gutters need more than a cleaning, we can quote the fix. See gutter repair.
Is there a warranty on a cleaning?
Yes. Cleaning carries a 3-month warranty.
Do you install gutter guards?
Yes. See gutter guards.
